What is Cold-Pressed?

Cold-Pressed is Squeezby's range of chilled fruit and vegetable pouches for babies and toddlers. Instead of cooking the fruit with heat, we protect it with pressure. This guide explains how that works, what is inside, and how to store and serve Cold-Pressed pouches at home.

How cold-pressing works

Cold-Pressed pouches use high-pressure processing (HPP), also called cold-pressure. Each pouch is sealed and held under water pressure around 5.5 times greater than the deepest part of the ocean. Pressure does the work that heat usually would: it removes harmful bacteria such as E. coli, Listeria and Salmonella, while the nutrients, colour and flavour of the fruit stay where they are.

Cold-Pressed compared with shelf-stable pouches

Traditional shelf-stable fruit pouches are high-heat pasteurised. Cold-Pressed pouches are not cooked with heat, so they keep the freshness, colour and taste of real fruit. The trade-off is that they are chilled: they belong in the fridge, not the cupboard.

What is inside

  • Real fruit and vegetables. The sweetness comes from the fruit itself.
  • No added sugar and no preservatives.
  • Some blends also include oats, barley, millet or chia seed. Each flavour lists its ingredients on the product page and on the pack.
  • Halal certified.

Always read the allergen information on the pack and on the product page, and speak to your paediatrician before introducing new foods, especially if your child has allergies or eczema.

Choosing by age

Cold-Pressed comes in four age stages: 6m+, 8m+, 10m+ and 12m+. Start with the first blends from 6 months, once your baby is ready for solids, and move up as they grow. Use the Age option on the product page to choose. Breastmilk or formula is still an important part of the diet at this stage; your paediatrician can advise if you ever have a concern.

How to store Cold-Pressed pouches

  • Fridge: keep pouches chilled at 0–4°C.
  • Out of the fridge: a pouch is fine for up to 1 hour, and for longer with an ice pack in a cooler bag.
  • Once opened: seal it, keep it refrigerated and use it within 24 hours.
  • Freezing: you can freeze pouches, which adds up to 3 months of shelf life. Thaw in the fridge before serving and do not refreeze once thawed.

How to serve

  • Straight from the pouch, or squeezed into a bowl with a spoon.
  • Warmed in a water bath: stand the sealed pouch in hot water (around 90°C) for 8 to 10 minutes, then test the temperature before serving. Do not boil or microwave the pouch, because either can damage it.
  • Stirred into food: mix into oatmeal, layer into a yoghurt parfait or blend into a smoothie bowl.

Taking pouches out and about

Each pouch is 100ml, which suits most airline liquid limits. Please reconfirm your airline's policy before you fly. For longer trips, pack pouches with an ice pack in a cooler bag.
